A blog by the family of heart transplant patient Teresa Bartlinski wishes the 6-year-old a happy half-birthday as she suffers complications with surgery.
She had her long-awaited heart transplant last week in Philadelphia, and Monday she had another surgery to repair her left atrium that eventually brought internal bleeding, the blog states. She was on life support Tuesday.
"For one little orphan girl who only wanted a family of her own, I am in awe at what God has done for her in her life. Not only did HE give her a family, HE has made everyone in the world her family," a Tuesday post on Our Place Called Home blog states.
Her parents, Ann and Ed Bartilinski of Catonsville, adopted her from China in July 2010, according to the blog.
"Upon bringing Teresa home from China we unfortunately learned she not only needed a heart transplant but also a lung transplant," it states, showing it was posted by "Ann." "Her doctors feel she would not survive this operation."
The family has four other adopted daughters and four biological children.
At 8 a.m. Wednesday, doctors plan to see if the new heart will function, the blog states. "We need the right ventricle to WORK and be STRONG. ... Please God!"
