You can now "like" the Baltimore County Police and Fire Departments. County officials announced Monday afternoon that the departments now share a page on Facebook. The page will be used to distribute information from the two departments as well as the county Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. "We know how much people care about police news in their communities," said County Police Chief Jim Johnson, in an emailed statement. "Social media helps us provide information when significant news is breaking. It also helps dispel rumors in an era rumor spreads instantly." Forecasters, who originally predicted snowfall totals as high as a foot or more in some parts of the Baltimore area, are revising totals.
Schools were closed in preparation, but many residents and Patch readers are wondering—where's the snow? Forecasters, too, have been revising predictions as a low pressure system responsible moves north and takes the warmer temperatures with it. Ravens wide receiver Lee Evans dropped a pass in the endzone and kicker Billy Cundiff missed wide left on a field goal that would have forced overtime as the New England Patriots won the AFC Championship, 23-20, to advance to the Super Bowl.
Baltimore and the surrounding counties are dressed in purple this weekend as the Ravens play the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.
