Lansdowne High Rec Center's Lights To Be Upgraded

Money from Program Open Space will improve lighting at the school's rec center.

The lighting at Lansdowne High School's Rec Center is going to be upgraded, according to recent press release from the state. Program Open Space is going to provide $323,625 if unding to upgrade the field lighting system in place now at Lansdowne High's Recreation Center. This will ensure safety standards are being met.  The state said also that the new lighting is going to be "energy efficient and decrease light pollution." Gov. Martin O'Malley and the Board of Public Works approved the projects earlier this week, according to the press release.  “Through these projects we are not only enhancing our parks and recreational facilities, we are enhancing the quality of life for our State’s citizens,” said O’Malley. Lansdowne Middle Receives Open Space Grant

The money will fund lighting upgrades on the school's fields.

Landsdowne Middle School was one of five recipients of state funds Wednesday under Program Open Space. Maryland's Board of Public Works approved $590,100 in funds for a project there and four others in Baltimore, Frederick and Howard counties. “It is essential that we continue to provide safe, accessible outdoor spaces for our families to enjoy,” Lt. Gov.Anthony G. Brown said in a news release. “When young people have opportunities to play and learn outdoors, they develop an appreciation for their natural world and a desire to care for it.” The Program Open Space approval will fund lighting upgrades on Lansdowne's fields to meet safety standards, according to state officials.
