Baltimore Metro Tweets Sorrow Over Connecticut Shooting

Local residents respond via social media to the tragic school shooting in Newton, CT.

(UPDATED) 5:48 p.m.—Baltimore metro area residents and leaders are sharing their sorrow and sympathy with residents of Newtown, CT where a gunman went on a rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School. According to Newtown Patch, 27 people were killed—18 of them children—at the school on Friday.  Newtown Patch is reporting the identification in the shooter is currently being withheld by law enforcement following the possible mis-identification of a shooter earlier in the day. In the wake of the tragedy Baltimore County police have stepped up patrols at local schools. The shooting in Newtown comes after a shooting at Perry Hall High School in August.
