Monopoly Token To Be Axed

Monopoly's maker plans to retire one of its classic game tokens, and replace it with a new one.

Hasbro, the company that makes Monopoly, is sending one of the game's classic tokens to jail—permanently. Fans have until Feb. 6 to vote on the token they'd like to see saved, according to Hasbro's Facebook page, where the votes are taken. The token with the least votes will be retired. All tokens—the race car, thimble, boot, Scottie dog, battleship, hat, iron and wheelbarrow—are at risk. AAA Mid-Atlantic has launched a social media campaign to save the race car token.  To replace the retired piece, fans also have the option to vote on a new token to pass go—a cat, robot, ring, helicopter or guitar.
