Bryan Anderson has spent plenty of time waiting for a computer or the printer at the current library at CCBC Catonsville. He also didn't study there as much, as it was often crowded. But when he toured the new 76,000-square-foot library building Tuesday after a ribbon cutting, the 22-year-old student from Phoenix said he was more than impressed. "It's a lot nicer than some of the four-year college libraries I've seen," Anderson said while walking with his fellow classmates on the third floor. The students marveled at the space, the view and the 15 group study areas that will be available for use once the library is officially open next month. While the new library on campus at CCBC Catonsville has many technology upgrades compared to the old one, what Director Cynthia Roberts hopes is the library will become a hub of student activity once it opens in November. The 74,000-square-foot library not only has more computers but it has group study areas, comfy seating and a coffee area. At a community college where students commute to campus, the library is a place where students can connect with each other, Roberts said. "This is one of those places they can identify with on campus and hang out with their friends outside of class," she said.
