Local Schools Making Snowflakes To Support Newtown

The National PTA has asked for snowflakes to post in the school's new building.

Local schools started undertaking a project to help support the children at Sandy Hook Elementary School after last week's shooting tragedy. Some schools in Catonsville have been making snowflakes for the Connecticut school as per the instructions of the National PTA. Catonsville Elementary, Westchester Elementary, Johnnycake Elementary and Catonsville High have all joined in the effort, according to a school administrator. The National PTA's website said that students from Sandy Hook Elementary, the scene of the shooting and massacre last week, won't be going back to that building when school starts again.  They'll be going back to a different building and that "parent-volunteers are working to ensure that the students are welcomed back …

Catonsville Elementary Starts 'Operation Sandy' on Saturday

The school and the community are seeking donations to give to a New Jersey school that was hit hard by the recent storm.

Catonsville Elementary School's Operation Sandy project will begin this Saturday. The school, plus the Catonsville community, is going to take donations to help out a school in New Jersey and the community, a place that Hurricane Sandy hit very hard a few weeks ago.  The school is trying to get things like school supplies, first aid supplies, paper products and clothing, and these are going to be taken at the elementary school from 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday. Bring donations to the school at 615 Frederick Rd., Catonsville, during that time Saturday.
