Wilkens Precinct Crime: Burglars Steal Bicycles, Electronics

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department's Wilkens precinct. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Arbutus Old Washington Boulevard. 4100 block. Between 7 p.m. May 2 and 5 p.m. May 3. A burglar took a lawnmower, generator and dump cart from a shed. Catonsville Overbrook Road. Unit block. Between mid-April and 6 p.m. May 2. A burglar came into a detached garage and stole two bicycles. There were no signs of forced entry. Edmondson Ave. 5800 block. Between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 30. A burglar broke a sliding glass door lock to get into a home and steal TVs; video game consoles, games and controllers; a laptop computer and cash. Woman Finds Young Burglar inside Home

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department's Wilkens precinct. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

A juvenile was arrested Wednesday after being charged with fourth-degree burglary of an Arbutus home. At 5:10 p.m., a woman who resides in the 5600 block of Selford Road, heard a knocking sound and found the burglar inside her home, according to a report by Baltimore County police. The burglar had come in through the back, sliding door, and then left, the report states. The suspect is allegedly a "friend of the victim's stepson," and was later arrested.

Police Are Looking for Catonsville Burglary Suspect

The county police are searching for a man involved in a Catonsville burglary and want help finding him.  A resident came back to his home in the 600 block of North Bend Road and found a man trying to break into the front door. When the resident confronted the suspect, the suspect ran, according to police. However, the resident was able to take a picture of the burglar with his cell phone. Police are looking for a black male, 40 to 50 years old, and about 5-foot-8. He weighs about 220 pounds. Police say the man was seen carrying a set of hedge trimmers or bolt cutters with a blue nylon bag.  Police ask anyone with information about a possible suspect in the case to call 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587.

Police Blotter: Burglaries in the Area

Nov. 5: At some time since 9 p.m. the previous evening, an unknown person took a generator, four bicycles, two chainsaws and two gas cans from the rear patio and shed of a residence on the 300 block of Lee Dr. Nov. 6: Between 8:20 a.m. and 1 p.m., an unknown person entered a yard on the 6600 block of Altamont and took an aluminum ladder. Nov. 6: At around 4:25 p.m., a resident on the 1900 block of Edmondson Ave. saw an unknown suspect go into a shed and take a gas can. The suspect was stopped by the victim, but fled westbound on Edmondson. Catonsville Man Charged in Copper Theft

Thomas Anthony Haigler, 40, of the 100 block of Egges Ln., caught after copper downspouts were taken from St. Marks for the third time in a month.

Police charged a Catonsville man with burglary on Nov. 8 after he was seen removing copper downspouts from St. Marks Church at 30 Melvin Ave., according to a report. At around 11:10 p.m., a suspect was observed removing copper downspouts from the sides of St. Marks and collecting them in a pile in the parking lot, the police report said. The witness called police, who located and detained the suspect nearby, according to the report. The witness gave a positive ID of the suspect, the report said. Thomas Anthony Haigler, 40, of the 100 block of Egges Ln., was charged with grand theft and fourth-degree burglary, according to police. Police Blotter: Burglaries in Catonsville

Nov. 2: At 3:07 a.m., an unknown suspect gained entry to a business on the 5300 block of Edmondson Ave. by throwing a large stone through the front glass door, then took two packs of cigarettes and fled on foot. Nov. 2: At 5:14 a.m., an unknown person stole three air conditioning units from the rear of a business on the 600 block of Frederick Rd. A fourth air conditioning unit was tampered with. Catonsville Woman Among Four Charged in Lansdowne Burglary

K9 used to apprehend suspects who entered a vacant house on the 200 block of Clyde Ave. to "look around," according to police.

A Catonsville woman was among four people were charged with burglary on Oct. 27 after breaking into a house on the 200 block of Clyde Ave. in Landowne in order to "look around," according to a police report. At 3:37 a.m., police K9 units were deployed to help apprehend the suspects in the house, the report said. A bathroom door inside the house was destroyed, according to police. Oct. 29: At some time since 3 p.m. on Oct. 26, an unknown person removed 25 feet of cooper drain spout from St. Marks Church at 20 Melvin Ave. Oct. 30: At some time since 5:30 p.m. of Oct. 26, an unknown person cut the lock to a storage locker on the 5500 block of Baltimore National Pike and took a rocking chair, a typewriter and a saw drill. Oct. 30: At some time since 1 p.m. on Oct. 27, an unknown person cut a screen door to enter a garage on the 600 block of Coleraine Rd. and took a riding mower. Oct. 30: At some time since 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, an unknown suspect removed three air conditioning units from in front of Catonsville Methodist Church at 6 Melvin Ave.

Police Blotter: Burglaries in the Area

Oct. 22: At some time since 5 p.m. on Oct. 19, an unknown person entered a business on the 5100 block of Baltimore National Pike through an unlocked rear window, went through several offices and took three checkbooks. Oct. 23: At midnight, a resident on the 2100 block of Old Frederick Rd. was awakened by a loud noise. The resident checked out the premises and found nothing wrong. The next morning, the resident discovered pry marks on a rear basement window, but entry was not gained into the residence. Oct. 23: At some time since 7 p.m. the previous evening, an unknown person cut the lock of a garage on the 1200 block of Leeds Terrace, but nothing inside was taken.

Juveniles Charged in Bike Thefts

Two juveniles face burglary charges after arrests linked to Oct. 19 thefts.

Two juveniles were charged with burglary after a series of bicycle thefts on Oct. 19, according to police reports. Baltimore County Police do not routinely release the names of juveniles charged with crimes. At around 4:13 p.m. on Oct. 19, the suspects removed a mountain bike from the front porch of a residence on the unit block of Briarwood Rd., according to a report. A witness to the crime chased the suspects, who left the bike at the end of the street, the report said. The bike was returned to its owner, according to the report. At 5:19 p.m., the juveniles were observed taking a mountain bike from a fenced-in yard on the 6000 block of Mount Ridge Rd, the report said. Where are their parents? I would know if my kid had a bike that I didn't buy him. I would have no problem taking my kid to the police station along with the bike. I think the parents should be held responsible. These juveniles should be given community service like picking up trash or at a soup kitchen. I hope these kids aren't on a path to juvenile delinquency. .   more ›
