We have had children enrolled in St. John's Parish Day School since 2003. We currently have three children all in the Lower School. I can say wholeheartedly that my children are all receiving an outstanding, personalized education. St. John's provides an intimate, nurturing environment, where the children can learn at their own pace, and become confident in classroom subjects. Many of the teachers use project based learning in their curriculum which allows for so much creativity. My children love going to school, and love learning. Our oldest, a fifth grader, has been accepted into an academically competitive private school and I am confident he is more than well prepared for his future in middle school. Our whole family has loved being part of the wonderful St. John's community.

The first poster acknowledges a suboptimal experience related to one specific cohort at SJPDS. Perhaps the previous poster needs to better understand the circumstance before making a generalized statement about contractual obligations! Tuition insurance only entitles a family to 60% of the unused tuition. What if a school acknowledges that it does not meet its educational commitments for a specific group of children of which his/her child may have been a part?

St. John's Parish Day School is a fantastic place for children and for families! I have been a parent of students at St. John's Parish Day School since 2000. My older child is now in high school and is both academically and socially successful. The writer below is just one opinion. I know for certain that since the Lower School opened, each and every graduating student has been accepted into their first choice middle school. I also know for a fact that the school offers tuition insurance (like any other private school) that contract holders sign up for to cover situations just like this.

Sounds to me like the writer is just sour grapes because of an obligation to comply with a contract.

Negotiate your contract with SJPDS.

Our family and others have withdrawn their children from the school during the 2011-2012 academic year due to lack of academic rigor and instability. SJPDS refuses to release our family from the financial contract despite recongizing the suboptimal academic environment our cohort experienced.

However, the new logo and marketing materials look great!
