G.L. Shacks Grill is a perfect place to meet up with friends and family for a tasty dinner or rowdy sporting event. Customers can dine on delicious Maryland-style cuisine (think crab cakes) in the casual restaurant or root on their favorite team over appetizers and drinks in the adjoining sports-bar area. There's always some kind of special or event in full spring at this upbeat establishment.
I've been a satisfied and loyal customer since 1998. Great place to meet friends. The atmosphere is great. Catonsville own CHEERS. The food is great. Every night is a different, from food specials to people. Crab Mac n Cheese, awesome. Tuesday is half price hamburgers. If you love meatloaf, this is your place, both main dish and sandwich. Once I discovered the Crab Mac N Cheese I knew that this was it! Great comfort food what more do you need? I also love the spinach salad - ok pretty much everything I've ordered so far has been fabulous. Great local bar with great atmosphere - small and super friendly.
This is a favorite place a friend introduced me to. Love the homey atmosphere and the waitresses. I like to come here for just about anything. The only thing I miss is the ribs.
Since Alosno's in Baltimore dropped Crab Mac n' cheese from their menu I have been on a Don Quixote-like quest for a restaurant to fill this enormous void in my epicurian world. Hello Esmerelada!!! This dish is vastly different from my old favorite but truly abounds with flavor. I have had Shacks version three times in the last month and a half. I get the impression the chef doesn't portion out the crabmeat.... the bowl is smothered with so much crab that I envision large handfuls of it being tossed into the cheese, white sauce and spring onion melange. The only chink in the armor here is that the dish is slightly over salted. This is a lot of food for one person.
