Lighthouse Hopes to Raise Funds for Building Improvements

The Catonsville nonprofit is asking for the community's help for a capital campaign.

After more than 40 years serving of thousands of clients, 's building on Mellor Avenue is in need of some upgrades.

The Catonsville nonprofit, which provides counseling and group therapy programs to adults and children, has launched a capital campaign to help pay for the renovations.

The slated improvements include parking lot repair, major renovations to the front steps and side walkway, renovation of the front porch and handicap access ramp, updating two bathrooms to meet ADA requirements, installing a new boiler and repairing a crumbling chimney.

So far the staff and the board have received grants and commitments for 50 percent and hope to raise the remainder of the funds from the community.

This Saturday, Lighthouse is hosting a where participants get discounts at bars, restaurants and shops along Frederick Road. Participants pay $25 to get access to the discounts, as well a chance to particpate in a silent auction for more gift certificates and prizes.
