Girl Scout Cookie Orders Start Friday

Cookie-lovers can begin placing orders on Sept. 14, with a delivery date in late October.

It's almost that time of year again—Girl Scout Cookies will soon arrive in central Maryland.

The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland chapter will start taking orders door to door for boxes of cookies on Sept. 14. The cookies should be delivered sometime in late October.

And if you miss the boat on advanced orders, you can always scout around town hunting for them yourself. To facilitate this, dedicated cookie hunters can sign up online to be emailed when there are booths set up in your area.

Girl Scouts across the country are celebrating the organization's 100th anniversary, and Maryland scouts are celebrating 50 years.

Ever wonder where your money goes when you buy the cookies? According to the Girl Scouts' website, 70 percent of the proceeds stays within the local Girl Scout council to operate its programs. The remainder goes directly to the baking company.
