In men’s soccer, senior back Liam Paddock came back to the Retriever lineup and scored an early goal, leading the Retrievers to a 1-0 victory at Mount St. Mary’s.
UMBC won its second straight and improved to 2-0-2 on the season, while the Mount fell to 1-3-0.
The Retrievers dominated the first portion of the game, taking four corners in the first six minutes of play. On their fifth attempt, just 7:41 into the game, senior midfielder Milo Kapor (Toronto, Ont./Emily Carr) took the corner from the left side and his serve found Paddock eight yards from the goal. The recently-named 2012 ECAC Division I Scholar-Athlete of the Year headed the ball just inside the far right post to give the visitors the early lead.
