Chamber of Commerce: Reasons to Shop in Catonsville During the Holidays

The Catonsville Chamber of Commerce encourages the community to shop and dine locally during the holidays!

With the 2011 holidays upon us, it’s important as a chamber that we encourage our members and the community to shop and dine locally this season and here are just a few reasons why.

1. Shopping and dining locally keeps dollars in our local economy.

Your dollars spent in locally-owned businesses have a real impact on your community. When shopping and dining locally, you create jobs, fund local services through sales tax, and invest in neighborhood improvement and community development.

2. Shopping local means more local jobs.

Locally owned businesses create more jobs which help employ our community’s workers especially Catonsville’s youth.

3. Shopping local helps the environment.

Local stores help to produce vibrant, walkable downtowns like our Catonsville village-which in turn reduces sprawl and automobile use.

4. Shopping and dining locally helps protect the character and prosperity of Catonsville.

Catonsville is unique. It has maintained its small town charm in the midst of a true renaissance on its main street, Frederick Road, and on Route 40. By choosing to support locally owned businesses, you help maintain Catonsville’s distinctive appeal and identity.
