3 Ways to Enjoy the Season

It’s almost Thanksgiving and that means the holiday season is upon us. The Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce has three great ideas to help you get ready and get in the spirit to enjoy the season.

First, take some stress out holiday preparations by staying in Catonsville to shop on Small Business Saturday, this Saturday, November 30. Small businesses form a vital part of our economy, providing 55 % of all jobs, and 65% of new jobs. Yet during the biggest shopping days of the year, small businesses are often overlooked amid the advertising frenzy from the giant chain stores. When you spend in Catonsville, more of your money stays in Catonsville to help strengthen the community. So help keep our community vibrant and enjoy a relaxed and personal shopping experience by shopping locally on Small Business Saturday.

After shopping, come join friends and neighbors to welcome Santa at the 20th Annual Catonsville Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, November 30 at 6:30 p.m. Gather at the Santa House, right next to the Catonsville Fire Department at 754 Frederick Road, for seasonal music, free refreshments and lots of holiday cheer as Santa arrives on a fire truck. If you can’t make it this Saturday, you can visit Santa on Friday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. on December 6, 13 and 20th, on Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. on December 7, 14 and 21st, or on Sunday, December 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. Our local businesses and civic organizations have contributed gift bags to offer Santa’s visitors which are free while supplies last.

Finally, for a little more sophisticated holiday fun, join the Chamber for a Holiday Party on Thursday, December 12 at 12 noon at the Overhills Mansion.  The festivities include food, fabulous door prizes, fun drawings and great company, all in the beautifully decorated historic Overhills Mansion. To register, visit www.catonsville.org or call 410-719-9609.

There’s holiday fun for all in Catonsville. Hope you can join us!
