Last Chance: Which Summer Camps Have Space Left in Baltimore Area?

Whether it's for baseball, science, theater or music, summer camp programs offer kids a great way to make new friends, take up a new hobby and get out of the house for a bit.

If you came to this realization a little late in the game, don't worry. These summer camps in and around Baltimore still have space to enroll.

Y Journeys Camps

With 19 camps to choose from, the Y offers diverse camps for all ages. Take advantage of the free extended camp hours and sibling discounts.

UMBC Summer Camps

Even though the UMBC Summer Day Camp sessions have already begun, the remaining one-week sessions are still available, according to UMBC staff. Full payment is required before the start of a session. A child may attend any or all of the nine summer sessions. UMBC also offers summer sports camps.

Summer Learning Adventures Camps at CCBC

CCBC has been offering full-day and half-day camps in performing and visual arts, academics, languages and more for more than 40 years. Locations include Essex, Catonsville, Dundalk and Owings Mills.
FEATURED: A Writing Workshop for Children; Catonsville Campus, 800 South Rolling Road, Catonsville; 443-840-4700. August 5 to 9. Ages 8 to 11 only. Cost is $149.

Athletic Youth Camps at CCBC

Catonsville Athletics at CCBC is offering one athletic youth camp this summer called Camp Heritage. Designed for children who will have completed kindergarten through fifth grade by June 2013, Camp Heritage has two four-week sessions and offers flexible six- and seven-week options. Many age groups are still open for programs that include swimming, arts and crafts, nature and environment, sports and games and more.

Programs at Camp Bravo

From swimming to science, Camp Bravo's various programs at Goucher College are still open for registration.

Young People's Studios Summer Art Camp at MICA

Summer courses are offered at both Maryland Institute College of Art's Mount Royal campus and at the Ward Center for the Arts at the St. Paul's Schools. Families can select from a range of classes and workshops, such as clay and painting.
FEATURED: Cartooning Workshop for Middle School, 11152 Falls Road, Lutherville-Timonium; 410-225-2217. July 22 to August 2; Five days a week from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $330.

Summer Programs at McDonogh

For more than 80 years, McDonogh has been offering children ages 4 to 18 a variety of summer programs, including traditional day camps, academic programs and day and overnight sports clinics.
FEATURED: Fun on the Run Camp; 8600 McDonogh Road, Owings Mills; 410-998-3519. July 15 to 19. Boys and girls 11 to 14 only. Cost is $460 per session.

Ripken Baseball Camps

Ripken Baseball instructional programs combine the wisdom of Cal Ripken, Sr., with the 33 years of major league experience accumulated by both Cal Ripken, Jr. and Bill Ripken. Rookie and experience camps available.
FEATURED: Rookie Camp; 873 Long Drive, Aberdeen; 410-747-5361. Ages 7 to 8 only. Cost is $350.
