Free Slurpees at 7-Eleven Today in Catonsville

The convenience store celebrates its birthday/anniversary every year by giving away its signature 7.11-ounce frozen drinks for free.

With temperatures expected to be in the 90s again today, it may be the perfect day for a Slurpee. Even better if it's free.

As has become the annual tradition, 7-Eleven patrons will be given a free 7.11-ounce Slurpee simply for the asking anytime between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. July 11.

The first 7-Eleven store opened in 1927, meaning the convenience store chain will celebrate its 85th anniversary this year.

The celebration is especially noteworthy because it also marks the 45th anniversary of the creation of the Slurpee itself.

“This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year’s offer by 2 million," said Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and CEO, in a media release on the company's Web site.
