Girls Lacrosse Playoffs: Comets Fall Just Short at C. Milton Wright, 12-11
Catonsville girls nearly erase deficit with four minutes to play, but are eliminated in region semifinals.
Down 12-8 with only four minutes to play, Catonsville nearly pulled off an improbable comeback, coming within just a goal before host C. Milton Wright snatched up possession with 40 seconds to play and controlled the ball for the remainder of the game, eliminating the third-seeded Comets in the 4A-3A South semifinals, 12-11, on Monday.
Two big stops in the net from goalkeeper Lily Schmulowitz (seven total saves) helped Catonsville close the gap after C. Milton Wright had widened its 6-5 halftime advantage.
Junior Rachel Schwaab led the way for the Comets with a team-high four goals and one assist, while sophomore Deb Milani chipped in with two goals of her own and controlled six draws.

Sophomore Maddie Hunt and freshman Brooke Stevens each had two groundballs and forced two turnovers apiece.
A win by the Comets—who finished 9-8 on the year—would have set up a rematch in the region finals with Dulaney, who took down Catonsville, 16-6, in the Baltimore County Championship.
