Charm City Scrabble Challenge

Love to play Scrabble with your family? Addicted to Words with Friends? Then attend the Charm City Scrabble Challenge at UMBC on Saturday, February 4!

The tournament will feature both youth and adult divisions, including students from Scrabble clubs at local schools that UMBC’s education department is helping to support. Games will be played one-on-one, and the players with most wins and highest scores will earn certificates. Door prizes and word lists will be distributed. 

Registration starts at 1 p.m.  An informal strategy workshop will be held from 1:15 – 2 pm. A three game competition will start at 2 pm. This free event will end around 5 pm.

The competition will take place in the Skylight Lounge at UMBC, and boards and equipment will be provided. The Skylight Lounge is on the 3rd foor of the Commons at UMBC, and free parking is available in the Commons Garage (please do not park at metered spaces)

A Scrabble tournament sanctioned by the North American Scrabble Players Association is being held at the same location starting at 10 am. If you are interested in joining this organization and playing in the rated tournament, please contact Linda Oliva. There is a $30 fee to join NASPA and a $35 registration fee for the rated tournament which starts at 9:30 am on Saturday, February 4, 2012. There are no fees to participate in the Charm City Scrabble Challenge.
