Catonsville's Whittington Finishes Career with a Bang

Zoey Whittington brings home three gold medals from the Class 3A State Meet and earns Baltimore Sun first team All-Metro honors.

After a storied and high school career, it was only fitting that Comets senior Zoey Whittington ended her prep run on the type of high note she’s maintained for all four years of her years at Catonsville.

Whittington’s body of work on the season, including five total gold medal finishes in the state and regional meets combined, earned her first team All-Metro honors in the Baltimore Sun.

Individually at states, the senior brought home a first place finish in the 400 meter dash and snatched up a bronze in the 200 meter.

The team of Whittington (who served as the anchor), senior Maria Randlett-Tydings and juniors Flaime MacDowell and Emilia Ramos captured first place in both the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays.

In total, Whittington helped account for 36 of 47 points for a Catonsville squad that tied for second place (with John F. Kennedy) in the Class 3A meet and finished just 1.5 points behind first placed Huntingtown.
