Accomplishment: With the Comets needing to win their final two games to advance to the Baltimore County Championship, Nonn, as she’s done virtually all season, delivered.

The freshman sensation scored one goal apiece in back-to-back victories over Eastern Tech (3-1) and Hereford (6-1), capping off a run of nine straight victories for the Comets.

For the year, Nonn has tallied a team-high 17 goals to go along with two assists, and has scored at least once in 11 of the Comets’ 12 games this year.

What’s made Nonn such a prolific scorer?

“Probably just her willingness to finish,” head coach James Fitzpatrick said. “…Strikers have to have that certain something inside of them that makes them almost fearless when it comes to shooting—they never see a miss as a failure, they only see opportunities and that’s what leads to goals. A good striker will shoot no matter what.”

And despite being only a freshman, Nonn’s displayed a level of experience and confidence that opponents have no choice but to contend with.

“She has a certain meanness to her when she takes the pitch,” Fitzpatrick said. “She’s not going to back down. She’s going to get what she gets and keep plowing through.”

Nonn and the Comets will look to secure the county championship when they take on Perry Hall Tuesday afternoon at Franklin High School
