School System Deadlines Approaching for Registration

Baltimore County Public Schools encourage parents to register early.

August 29 and the first day of school is just a month away, which means it's time to start thinking about back to school.

Baltimore County Public Schools is reminding parents that they need to register their child if he or she meets the following criteria:

  • Is enrolling for the first time in a Baltimore County school.
  • Has recently moved to Baltimore County from another county.
  • Has changed residences within Baltimore County since last school year and will begin attending a new school as a result of that move.
  • Is entering the sixth grade or ninth grade this school year.
  • Does not legally reside in Baltimore County but may be allowed to attend a county school (considered a "non-resident" student under Board of Education Policy and Superintendent's Rule 5150).

For parents whose children are entering sixth or ninth grade, they must verify residency in Baltimore County. To verify identity, the following must be provided:

  • Photo identification
  • Lease or deed
  • Three pieces of mail sent to the home address within the last 60 days

All documents must reflect the same residency. This procedure does not apply to shared domicile, homeless, or nonresident students, whose residency is verified annually.

This information must be provided by August 12.
