UMBC Homecoming - “Cultic Revelries in the Egyptian New Kingdom”

Humanities Forum: "Cultic Revelries in the Egyptian New Kingdom"
4 p.m., Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery
American Egyptologist Betsy Morrell Bryan's lecture will explore festivals of drunkenness celebrated in Thebes and in the Egyptian New Kingdom between ca. 1470 and 1100 B.C., based in part on the Johns Hopkins University archaeological expedition to the Temple of the Goddess Mut, a component of the temple complex at Karnak that contained a "hall of drunkenness." The Ancient Studies Week lecture is sponsored by the Department of Ancient Studies and the Dresher Center for the Humanities.
