Social Justice Forum on Human Trafficking

To educate and create an awareness of this global crisis, the Community College of Baltimore County will host the CCBC Social Justice Forum on Human Trafficking from 4 -6 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the Q Theatre at CCBC Catonsville, 800 South Rolling Road. The formal program will be preceded by a reception from 3-4 p.m. in the Q Lounge.  This event is free and open to the public.

Information presented in this program may be disturbing to some people and children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Jeanne Allert, Executive Director, The Samaritan Women, which serves as the convener of the Maryland Rescue & Restore Coalition, a state-wide initiative against human trafficking supported by local organizations and U.S. Administration of Children and Families (DHHS).  www.thesamaritanwomen.org
  • Angelia DiGuiseppe, Stevenson University student and Club President of their chapter of “Not For Sale.”  “Not For Sale” is a national campaign to prevent human trafficking, www.notforsalecampaign.org
  • (Ms.) Sidney Ford, Founder of YANA Inc. (You Are Never Alone, Inc.), will discuss their mission is to reach out in love to women and girls involved in prostitution and human trafficking, offering alternatives to those seeking change and compassionate support.  www.yanaplace.org
  • Detective Stephen Fox, Baltimore County Police Department, is a member of the Crimes Against Children Unit and his area of expertise is human trafficking.
  • (Mr.) Yao Stephane Gnangui, a native of the Ivory Coast in Africa, is a senior at UMBC studying Health Administration and Policy.  He is concurrently enrolled at CCBC.
  • Erin Neff of Courtney's House in Washington, DC, which provides rescue and restoration to the victims of sexual human trafficking.  Their clients range in age from 12-21 years. www.courtneyshouse.org
  • Thomas MacLellan, director, Homeland Security & Public Safety Division, National Governors Association, has written several policy statements on the subject of human trafficking.  www.nga.org.
  • State Delegate Jim Malone, a Democrat who represents Maryland District 12-A (which included parts of Baltimore and Howard counties.)
  • Cristina Osuji, a CCBC Essex SIFE student, who is from Romania.
