Catonsville Ranks Among Top 25 Schools in State

U.S. News and World Report listed Catonsville High School as the 25th best high school in the state.

 

is ranked at the 25th best high school in Maryland in the U.S. News and World Report's best high schools list.

The report includes data on nearly 22,000 high schools, compared to the previous list in 2009 that included 1,800 high schools, according to U.S. News.

The schools are ranked on student scores on state tests and Advanced Placement tests.

Catonsville students performed well enough to place them in the Top 25 of Maryland high schools, which puts its national ranking on the list at 655th.

With 1,729 students and 108 teachers at the time of the rankings, the school has a student-teacher ratio of 16:1, which is near the state average.

The school's scores on AP exams and the students' performances on the Maryland School Assessments rank above the state average.

Other Baltimore County high schools on the list include Hereford High School (No. 22), Towson High School (No. 14), Dulaney High School (No. 13), George Washington Carver Center for the Arts and Technology (No. 11) and Eastern Technical High School (No. 9).

Catonsville's Western Technical High School was ranked No. 39 on the list as well.

Last year, Catonsville High and Western Tech were ranked in the top 7 percent of high schools, .
