Proposed plan would shift districts for the area's current state delegates.

As the Maryland General Assembly gets underway this week, a new redistricting plan will be debated as legislative districts across the state are shifted.

Under the plan developed by to the Governor's Redistricting Advisory Committee, the major redistricting changes for Baltimore County include the creation of two African-American majority districts on the west side of the county, as well as the uniting of Towson and Pikesville under one district.

But in Catonsville, the changes would mean a division of the area under the new map. District 44B would be a new district that includes portions of current District 12A and District 10, which is at Baltimore National Pike and points north.
