Interstate 695 Will be Temporarily Closed Overnight

Construction crews need to remove the steel beams on the current bridge.

Motorists traveling on the outer loop of Interstate 695 on the Frederick Road bridge tonight and Thursday night will be diverted out from under the bridge for the next step of bridge construction to take place.

Construction crews need to remove the steel beams on the bridge to make way for new bridge construction, according to the State Highway Administration.

Crews will start gradually close lanes of traffic starting at 8 p.m. tonight until 4 a.m. Thursday. Traffic will be diverted onto the exit ramp, across Frederick Road and back onto the entrance ramp of I-695.

One lane will be closed at 8 p.m., a second lane at midnight and then the entire outer loop will be diverted from midnight to 4 a.m.

Also starting at midnight, the traffic light at the Frederick Road bridge will be turned off and a flagperson will be there to direct traffic.
