County Plants 170 Trees at Buildings in Catonsville

Seven locations in Catonsville were selected as part of the Baltimore County "Cool Trees" program.

There have been 170 new trees planted in Catonsville on county properties, as part of a Baltimore County program aimed to improve energy efficiency and help the environment.

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz spoke about the program . County officials provided Patch with the locations where the trees were planted. More than 600 of the 957 trees planted across the county were at schools.

In Catonsville, the following locations had trees planted:

: 16 trees

Through the program, native shade trees were planted within 60 feet of the south and southwest sides of public buildings, cost $500,000. It was paid for with an Energy Efficiency Grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, according to a county news release.
