Watch: State Police SWAT at Spring Grove

Two suspects were taken into custody for allegedly attempting to steal copper from the Hamilton building.

Maryland State Police were called to Spring Grove Hospital Center Tuesday afternoon, after two suspects were caught trying to steal copper from an old empty building on the campus on Wade Avenue.

The first suspect was caught shortly after police arrived on the scene, but the second hid up in the attic of the building.

Officers with the Special Tactical Assault Team prepared to enter the building shortly at 7 p.m., but the second suspect crawled out of a hole in the roof and was taken into custody by officers who were around the perimeter.

State police have two men in custody: Matthew R. Blizzard, 29, of the unit block of Wade Avenue and Dennis W. Dyer, 43, of the 8100 block of Mild Haven Court in Dundalk. Blizzard was a resident of the Westside Men's Shelter on the Spring Grove campus.

The incident became a spectacle for neighbors and Spring Grove employees, as the open layout of the campus allowed passersby to watch police in action.
