The student has been transported to an area hospital, and an acquaintance is in custody.

The incident took place around 6 a.m. Saturday in Erickson Hall on UMBC's campus in Catonsville, Major Paul Dillon told Patch.

The student was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Dillon said.
