Updated: Police Seek Suspect in Gas Station Stabbing

The victim was listed in fair condition after being taken to Shock Trauma.

(UPDATED) -- A man was hospitalized after an unknown assailant allegedly stabbed him in the neck at a gas station in Catonsville Saturday, said Detective Cathleen Batton. WBAL first reported on the incident.

Police are looking for the suspect who approached the victim a little after 9 p.m. while he was pumping gas at the on the 6100-block of Edmondson Ave. in Catonsville, according to police. The suspect pushed the victim back into his car and demanded personal items, which the victim gave the suspect, Batton said.

The suspect then stabbed the victim in the back of the neck and fled.

The suspect is described as a 50-year-old black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing 190 lbs. and wearing a black skull cap and a green jacket.

The crime is unusual for the location, Batton said.

"I spoke with the officers down there, and they said this is not a gas station where we have a tremendous number of problems," she said.

The victim was listed in fair condition after being taken to Shock Trauma.
