Mailman Charged With Theft of 20K Pieces of Mail
A mail carrier based in Catonsville reportedly had bags and boxes full of undelivered mail in his apartment. He faces federal charges.
Credit cards, prescription drugs, letters, and Netflix DVDs were all allegedly stolen by a Catonsville letter carrier who faces federal charges that he stole more than 20,000 pieces of mail.
Jeffrey L. Shipley of Millersville is accused of stealing checks, money orders, passports and prescription medication – even Mother's Day cards.
Shipley was charged in federal court last week with one count each of mail theft and delaying the mail, reports The Baltimore Sun.

Shipley was hired in August 1993 and most recently worked from a postal facility in Catonsville, according to court documents.
Investigators from the USPS Inspector General's officer received a tip in February that Shipley was stealing bags of mail, as well as taking jewelry, Netflix movies and passports from the mail, the newspaper said citing court documents.

When authorities searched Shipley's apartment, they allegedly found bags, boxes and official postal service tubs all filled with mail, Netflix DVDs, gift cards and magazines, a $100 bag of coins from the U.S. Mint and three stools marked "Property of USPS."
