Juveniles Charged in Bike Thefts

Two juveniles face burglary charges after arrests linked to Oct. 19 thefts.

Two juveniles were charged with burglary after a series of bicycle thefts on Oct. 19, according to police reports.

Baltimore County Police do not routinely release the names of juveniles charged with crimes.

At around 4:13 p.m. on Oct. 19, the suspects removed a mountain bike from the front porch of a residence on the unit block of Briarwood Rd., according to a report.

A witness to the crime chased the suspects, who left the bike at the end of the street, the report said. The bike was returned to its owner, according to the report.

At 5:19 p.m., the juveniles were observed taking a mountain bike from a fenced-in yard on the 6000 block of Mount Ridge Rd, the report said.

Between 5:20-5:28 p.m., the suspects were seen by a neighbor taking a mountain bike from another residence on the 6000 block of Mount Ridge Rd., according to a police report.

Both juveniles were apprehended by police in possession of the bikes, and identified by witnesses as the suspects in the thefts, police reports said.

The bicycles taken from the residences on Mount Ridge Rd. were returned to their owners, and the suspects were charged with multiple counts of fourth-degree burglary, according to police reports.

Our children's bikes were stolen as well. My husband chased one if them and a neighbor called the police. He got our bikes back but not before my daughter's was painted yellow. Took all day to remove the paint. Big issue for me is the juvie court wants to have mediation and throw out the charges. Stole 4 bikes and painted one... and was caught on someone else's bike!

Where are their parents? I would know if my kid had a bike that I didn't buy him. I would have no problem taking my kid to the police station along with the bike. I think the parents should be held responsible. These juveniles should be given community service like picking up trash or at a soup kitchen. I hope these kids aren't on a path to juvenile delinquency. .
