Heating Oil Found in Vacant House on Old Frederick Road

Nearly 200 gallons were cleaned up in a vacant home.

The Maryland Department of the Environment said there was no environmental impact after nearly 200 gallons of heating oil were found in the basement of a vacant home on the 6000 block of Old Frederick Road.

According to ABC 2 News, Baltimore County Fire Department and Haz-Mat crews responded to a call around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived on the scene, they discovered the heating oil had spilled in the basement.

Samantha Kappalman, a spokeswoman with the Maryland Department of the Environment, said the oil was confined to the basement and there was no seepage into the ground.

The department coordinated the clean-up of the spill, she said.
