Driver Strikes Lamp Post on Frederick Road

Traffic was shut down on Frederick Road for roughly one hour on Thursday.

Traffic on Frederick Road in Catonsville was shut down for a little more than one hour Thursday after a driver jumped the curb and struck a lamp post.

The incident happened shortly before 12 p.m. The driver of a black car was speeding west on Frederick Road, veered of the road striking a lamp post, according to police officers on the scene.

Paul, who declined to give his last name, said he was driving east on Frederick Road when he saw the car speeding and out of control. A man was chasing the car, the Arbutus resident said, as the driver appeared to have run a red light at the intersection with Ingleside Avenue.

Paul said he and another pedestrian pulled the female driver from the vehicle, who appeared to be having a seizure.

The lamp post was struck outside and the car landed on the sidewalk.

Frederick Road was closed to traffic for roughly one hour between Mellor Avenue and Bloomsbury Avenue.
