Three Lanes on I-695 Reopened at Edmondson

The incident that prompted police activity reportedly occurred around 7:35 a.m. Thursday.

UPDATE (10:40 a.m.)—Three lanes have reopened on Interstate 695 after an incident that shut down northbound traffic at Edmondson Avenue for approximately three hours, according to the State Highway Admininstration.

All lanes had been closed as police investigated an incident that reports indicated was fatal.

A pedestrian was killed after being struck on the median wall near Edmondson Avenue, WBAL reported.

The incident was reported at 7:35 a.m. Thursday to Maryland Department of Transportation, and all four lanes of northbound traffic are shut down.

Drivers were encouraged to take alternate routes, as traffic was diverted off the beltway and onto Edmondson Avenue.

At 9 a.m., traffic was jammed from Interstate 295 to Edmondson and from Edmondson to Interstate 795, according to 99.1 FM. Drivers were told to anticipate extensive delays.
