Hi Joe, I'm glad they caught the two girls, I tell you things are getting worst out here. You can't even go anywhere without something happening.
Mari August 20, 2012 at 04:59 PM
Glad to hear that, Ray. The reports yesterday were that they were having trouble getting any witnesses to come forward. It's a tough decision to make and it's good that you stepped up to speak for your friend since he can't do so himself. Again, my sympathies.
Joe August 20, 2012 at 05:04 PM
Be WELL aware of your surroundings Ray. That is good advice no matter the time place or decade. Now IF the justice works as it should. My son's friend is doing well now too.
Amanda August 20, 2012 at 05:06 PM
Dear fellow patch readers, I strongly urge all of you to take a peak at Mr. George Costanza's recent activity and comments on the patch. He clearly is not worth your time. I am sad that you live in the same community that I have chosen to raise my children in.
Ray August 20, 2012 at 05:10 PM
Thank You, Mari, Joe , Linda and Newsguy. It good to know there are still some kind people in the world.
BlahDittyBlah August 20, 2012 at 06:32 PM
You know, it could have just as easily been your son that was shot. For all you know, he could have been trying to stop the fight. It is so easy to sit back and pass judgment on others when you don't even know the facts.
BlahDittyBlah August 20, 2012 at 06:35 PM
Very good point, Joe!
Chillin August 20, 2012 at 07:42 PM
you're kidding! What was offensive? Is Catonsville Patch looking for only Sesame Street feel good about everything in the world comments?
Penny Riordan August 21, 2012 at 03:01 AM
Chillin your comment was deleted because you used profanity in your remarks, which we don't allow: http://catonsville.patch.com/terms. To see specific guidelines, I would suggest looking under the section for Acceptable Use.

Unfortunately this was my good friend and best friends boyfriend and baby father. Blessings would very much be appreciated not lectures
Billy August 21, 2012 at 04:27 AM
The funny part is I was there and it was more than just one person with a gun a kelvin was one of those people so lets get facts before we judge
Gina August 21, 2012 at 04:48 AM
Billy, kelvin was involved???
Billy August 21, 2012 at 06:24 AM
I heard they found a gun next to the body but once I seen the first gun I left cuz I knew what was coming next
Arbutus Town Crier August 21, 2012 at 11:12 AM
Chillin, you know we have the same issue
Arbutus Town Crier August 21, 2012 at 11:20 AM
is defamatory, abusive, obscene, profane or offensive; infringes or violates another party's intellectual property rights (such as music, videos, photos or other materials for which you do not have written authority from the owner of such materials to post on the Service); violates any party’s right of publicity or right of privacy; is threatening, harassing or that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual; promotes or encourages violence; is inaccurate, false or misleading in any way; is illegal or promotes any illegal activities; promotes illegal or unauthorized copying of another person's copyrighted work or links to them or providing information to circumvent security measures; contains “masked” profanity (e.g., F@&#) contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment; or contains any advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation. Instead of trying to memorize all that, you might boil it down to three main principles: “Keep it clean,” “Don’t try to trick people,” and “Treat others as you’d like to be treated.” Easy, right?
Ray August 21, 2012 at 01:37 PM
No, Gina . Kelvin was not involved. I was there too,and there was no gun near the body. I was there till 6:00 am. I spoke with the detectives and the family. There are people that are going to say all types of things to smear his name. If you want the truth, speak to your best friend. She needs you at this time of morning. if there was a gun near the body the police would have said so, and it would have been in all the papers and news reports.
Robin Snyder-Ocampo August 21, 2012 at 02:07 PM
I really don't care what color you are, what age you are, or what gender you are. But just the fact that you speak the English language the way you do tells me a lot! Why don't we have some free college courses that start at midnight. I would much rather spend my tax dollars for that.
Ray August 21, 2012 at 02:23 PM
Really, I graduated from Umbc in 2010, I guess that intitles me to speak the way I want.
Newsguy August 21, 2012 at 02:39 PM
Joe, in no way shape or form am I "playing self-righteous" and saying that when I was 18 I was not out at 1:30 a.m. I will have you to know that I am 19 (a year off) and find myself out much later on many occasions. My point was and is that as teenagers we must be careful and aware of our surroundings. What happened is extremely unfortunate and in no way shape or form am I saying that Kelvin deserved what happened to him. However if he was not around a large crowd, some of whom were engaging in a physical altercation, he would not have had to die like this. I am simply fortunate that this has not happened to me, but that does not mean that I or anyone should be putting ourselves in this situation. I'm sure that Ray would agree that although he and Kelvin weren't doing anything wrong, they could have simply left what seemed to be progressing into a volatile situation and left. I was not there and I do not know exactly what happened, but as a Catonsville teen, speaking from my own experience I know that we often put having fun with friends above our safety and unfortunately it ended terribly for Kelvin and his loved ones. Joe- from now on, please read an entire comment instead of sectioning off a particular statement that will allow you to put yourself on a pulpit.

Ms. Roirdan, I apologize for any profanity that may have been in my earlier comments. I am unable to retrieve my comments for review, so I'll have to give you the benefit of the doubt. The only word that I used that I can recall as being conceived as profane is the word "crap". If this is one of the words that Patch's policy prohibits than go ahead and delete this post and I will not use it again. I will post my earlier deleted comment again (as best I remember it), but to saveguard it I will type it in a separate post from this one containing the naughty word in hopes that it remains posted. Thank you and Patch for offering it readers the opportunity to comment on the articles and fellow reader's comments. It's a cool forum as long as differing opinions are accepted without prejudice.
Arbutus Town Crier August 21, 2012 at 04:36 PM
I don't think that was the word invoking Thomas Crapper name would be against the terms
Chillin August 21, 2012 at 05:08 PM
To Patch: Ray basically called George Costanza a racist in his comment. He wrote "George, That is very racist of you". Personal attacks and name calling has been prohibited by Patch in the past and cause for deletions of the offending comments. Calling someone a racist is about as offending as a comment can get and certainly fits as a personal attack. Why is Ray's comment allowed to remain?
Chillin August 21, 2012 at 05:31 PM
Don't waste your time praying for the shooter and hoping that God enters his life. He's already rotten and can't be reached. It's too late for him. The prayers are only a sad replacement for real intervention. He was probably raised by his Grandma, who probably took him to her church on Sunday's while Dad was in the pen and Mom was strung out on heroine. The best intervention for this person right now is for some of the 100 witnesses to come forward in order to get him put in jail.
Chillin August 21, 2012 at 05:39 PM
I know we have the same problem here. It's the same stuff that has proliferated in Baltimore City. Not blaming the city, just the culture that has grown to become accepted among the ghetto city dwellers. The culture is spreading among the county dwellers. Patch will no doubt consider this profane and racist and delete it soon.
Jamira F August 22, 2012 at 09:53 PM
People trying comment on what happened that night is ridiculous. The fact of the matter is lost ANOTHER teenager to something that wasn't worth it. Every death affects hundreds of people and for anyone to say something so rude and disrespectful as some did. I am hurt. I personally knew Kelvin im hurr by some of the comments, nobody deserves to go like that.
Chillin August 23, 2012 at 07:25 PM
Reading the comments from people who were at the scene (or at least claiming to be) it seems as though the crowd is a quite illiterate bunch. They can't even write a complete sentence without misspellings, bad grammar, and a cognitive message. "Baby Daddy"...this crap is becoming common lingo with the new generation. Sad part is that they think it's a real English word that belongs in Websters. Hell the one guy claims to be a UMBC graduate. Is this what my tax dollars have produced? Who gave this guy a diploma? Did I not just read several months ago that UMBC is the most up and coming school in the country? I hope they didn't send him onto Med school.
Jimmy TwoTimes August 24, 2012 at 01:45 AM
I'm right there with you Chillin'... Just because the language appears in pop-culture and rap, doesn't mean it's acceptable in what is expected to be compelling arguments/statements...
Gina August 28, 2012 at 03:57 AM
Thank you so much ray your a really big help. This will help more than you know. At this moment Kelvin is at peace and laid to rest. He was a great father and son. And a great boyfriend to my best friend. He meant no harm to others so don't judge because nobody knows how good of a Guy he was. Its a shame he was taken away at the age of 17. RIP Kelvin.
Leanne Smith August 28, 2012 at 04:31 AM
Chillin, Jimmy twotimes, and George this is kelvins girlfriend & child's mother. None of you knew him so you have no right to say anything about Kelvin. He was a great father to our son and a wonderful boyfriend to me. For chillin to say that there was one less Kelvin that his tax dollars would have topsy for is so disrespectful. If this happened to one of your family members you would be devastated. So before you talk about someone think if it was happening to you. If everyone really wants to know what happened that night he was standing next to his car getting ready to get in when he was shot from 50 feet away by a stray bullet that someone fired who didn't even know Kelvin. Everyone was leaving a party so he wasn't just loitering in a parking lot. Know the facts before you say something. For chillin & Jimmy twotimes is my spelling & grammer correct. Whoever had something negative to say about my "baby daddy" you will never begin to feel the pain & hurt that I feel and to know that my 15 month old son will grow up without a father because someone decided to take kelvins life.
Leanne Smith August 28, 2012 at 04:32 PM
Kelvin was still alive & could of been saved but it took the ambulance almost an hour to get to the scene. The police didn't even call the ambulance until after Kelvin was dead. The police were more worried about arresting kelvins friends that were there trying to save him. It was because Kelvin is black they weren't worried about saving him. If it was a white kid that was shot they probably would of tried to save him. The law & justice is so messed up
