Poll: Should Suggs Have Exclusive Rights to Phrase?

The hottest new phrase among Ravens fans this year became "Ball So Hard University," after Ravens player Terrell Suggs used the slogan during a game introduction in November.

In the hours and days that followed, shirts and other items bearing the name appeared online. One of those entrepeneurs was Catonsville resident Tony Uzupus, who created the shirts within hours of the football game.

Uzupus has had a small shirt printing business on the side and has capitalized on phrases and events like this before. After the earthquake in August of last year, he saying, "I survived the Earthquake."

Several other Baltimore area entrepeneurs have also made the shirts, but all received letters from Suggs' representatives asking them to stop making the shirts. The Baltimore Sun reported that his company filed trademark applications to use the slogan.

Uzupus and other makers of the shirts said they have stopped selling the items for fear of the legal ramifications.
