Opening Day of Black Swan Yacht Club's 2013 Racing Season at Charlestown is May 1

Opening Day of Charlestown retirement community's Black Swan Yacht Club's 2013 racing season is Wednesday, May 1 (rain date May 8), at 2 p.m., on Lake Charles, according to an announcement by Commodore Joe Diehlmann.

The day will include a Blessing of the Fleet, which consists of 31-inch Victorian Model, radio-controlled sailboats. Guests will be given the chance to try their hands at the controls at the conclusion of the races.

This year's racing season will see newly-elected Vice Commodore Rod Waite's cleverly-named boat, "YWaite."

Future races will be held Wednesday mornings, at 10 a.m., in May, June, September, and October.

Fun and camaraderie is the main goal of the Black Swan Yacht Club, according to Commodore Diehlmann.
