The U.S. Army Field Band Chamber Music Series: Brass Extravaganza; Gershwin, Wagner, & Sousa!

Guest conductor Marie Speziale leads The U.S. Army Field Band Brass Ensemble in a performance of music from the 12th century to present day, including an arrangement of Gershwin's An American in Paris, original works by Dorothy Gates and Andrew Wolfe, and of course: The Stars and Stripes Forever!

Speziale is acknowledged as the first woman trumpet player in a major symphony orchestra. She retired in 1996 after 32 years as Associate Principal Trumpet of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. In the following years, she performed with the St. Louis Symphony, Houston Symphony, and toured with DIVA (the women's jazz band). She has also recorded for Paramount and 20th Century Fox studios. Speziale has been on faculty at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, and retired as Professor Emerita of Trumpet from The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in 2013.
