The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of central Maryland, including Baltimore County, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Metereologists are predicting total accumulations of 1-2 inches. Light snow will start falling between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Moderate snow is expected to fall around rush hour and the snow is expected to end in the evening.

According to Meteorologist Justin Berk, the snow will be more likely to stick when temperatures are expected to drop below freezing as the sun goes down. He is predicting the heaviest and 'crunchiest' mix on roads to come at 5 p.m. during the height of the evening rush hour.

Crews with Maryland SHA have pre-treated all major roads and officials warned of a difficult rush hour.

“Traveling the roads this afternoon during the height of the normal rush hour should NOT be an option; plows need space to clear the roads and gridlocked traffic does not allow crews the opportunity to make the roads safe.  Last year’s January 26 storm was indicative of how quickly things can change and we want everyone to get home safely," said SHA Administrator Melinda Peters.
