Video: Sewage Leak Dumps Into Patapsco River

Rupture in line carrying half of county's untreated sewage spilling 17 million gallons daily.

Half of the raw sewage produced in Baltimore County—about 17 million gallons per day—is flowing into the Patapsco River through a ruptured 54-inch pipe near the Patapsco Sewage Pumping Station on Annapolis Road in Baltimore Highlands.

Anne Arundel County Health Department has closed a section of the river south of the rupture leading to the Inner Harbor. The Baltimore County Health Department has issued a contact warning related to the sewage spill.

Public works officials hope to have the sewage line repaired by Friday.
