UMBC's John Jeffries looks back on his decades in social science and education in the talk, "A Life in History: Reflections on Studying Politics and Policy in Twentieth-Century America.”
Professor of History and Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at UMBC, John Jeffries, will discuss the circumstances and choices that have shaped his work as an historian of mid-twentieth-century U.S. elections and policy making. He will speak from the perspectives both of his own life and career, and of the study of political history since the 1960s.
Following the lecture, please join Dean Jeffries for a reception, hosted by UMBC President Freeman Hrabowski and Provost Philip Rous, in honor of his retirement.

This free event is part of UMBC's 2013 Social Sciences Forum lecture series, and will take place in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building Theatre, Wednesday, May 1 at 4:00 p.m. The reception will be open to all those attending, and will be held in the Black Box Theatre, located in the same building.
