101 Things to Enjoy
We spend a lot of time talking about health and fitness around here – which makes sense, all things considered – covering different exercises, the metabolic pathways, improving your health, etc. This week, lets take a break! This week we’re going to list 101 things you can do to make your life happier and more fulfilled. Sure, some will be tangentially fitness related, but plenty of them won’t be. Some may not be for you, but plenty will be. Making health and fitness a priority in your life is only truly useful if you then take that life and live it in a fulfilling and meaningful way. Be healthy to live longer, but remember to actually Live! Anyway, without further ado…
101 Things to Enjoy
(In no particular order)
- Read a book every month in a genre you enjoy
- Take archery lessons
- Go to the zoo
- Lay out under the stars on a cloudless night
- Ride in a hot air balloon
- Spend 4 hours in a quiet cemetery during the day
- Swim in the Dead Sea
- Learn to play one song on an instrument of your choice
- Drive a race car
- If you’re not doing what you love for your career, take one step every week that gets you closer to doing so
- Visit every continent
- Learn a martial art
- Get SCUBA certified
- Go to the Burning Man festival
- See a play
- Ask to shadow a physician for a day at the hospital
- Go diving with sharks (in a cage)
- Read five good books on philosophy, from different authors, faiths, and schools of thought
- Go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans
- For one day, tell everyone you meet something kind and pleasant
- Spend Christmas at the beach
- Go skeet shooting
- Organize a 10 person Halloween costume
- Learn to cook
- Patiently answer every question asked by a four-year-old child
- Host an Oktoberfest party
- Volunteer for one month at a homeless shelter
- Go snorkeling
- Every week for a year, try one new food
- Create your own iPhone app
- Drive a jet ski
- Lay out under the sun on a cloudless day
- For one month, write a short poem every day (it doesn’t matter how good it is!)
- St. Patrick’ Day in Ireland
- Watch a highly rated movie in a genre you would normally avoid
- Spend one season living on the beach

- Start a blog about something you love. Write at least 3000 words every week.
- Give a speech in public
- Go skydiving
- Start your own political party
- Read a book in a genre you’ve never read before
- Spend 4 hours in a quiet cemetery at night!
- Go ocean kayaking
- Volunteer for one month at a local animal shelter
- Live in a foreign country
- Spend one week walking instead of driving whenever possible (yes, you might have to walk a mile or more, you’ll live!)
- Dye your hair a new color every month for a year
- Write one short story every week (3-5 pages) for three months
- Learn to yodel
- Go snowboarding
- Get away from everything for a weekend. No phone, no computer, no internet. Just you and the Universe.
- Learn to draw
- Live for one month as a Buddhist monk
- Attend the Summer Olympics
- Learn at least one style of dance (Salsa, Tango, Ball Room, Break, etc.)
- Go to a science museum
- Learn to change your own car oil
- Start a home business doing something you love
- Over the next 12 months, write a novel (even if you’re the only one who ever reads it)
- Go white water rafting
- Try to break a Guinness World Record
- Take an improv acting course

- Drink a $1,000 bottle of champagne

- For one month, make all food from scratch
- Go to the aquarium

- Learn a language similar to yours (e.g. if you speak Spanish, learn French)

- Build something large (shed, house, deck, etc.)

- Visit a Children’s hospital and read to the kids
