Catonsville's Annual 4th of July Chair Controversy Begins!

Everyone in Catonsville knows that our town was MADE for the Fourth of July. Our parade is fantastic. Our fireworks are the flashiest. And the overall celebration is just so much FUN!  Therefore, it comes as no surprise that people clamor for the best seats to this first-class show.  Cville residents fall just short of pitching a tent and camping by the side of the road to get prime parade-viewing space. Instead, they line the sides of the street with lawn chairs, benches, signs, ropes, and even mannequins to cordon off their "reserved" seating.

On a stroll last night, I spotted the first few chairs. And in the coming week, these early birds will be surrounded by hundreds of others. I saw some fun and festive chairs, as well as a somewhat creepy display against them. So I ask; what are your thoughts on the chair tradition? Quaint and charming? Or public safety hazard?  Is there an appropriate timeline to put the chairs out?
