Charlestown's Continuing Care Earns Top CMS Rating

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has given  the Continuing Care neighborhood at Charlestown retirement community its highest Five-Star Quality Rating.

CMS created a Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which people may want to ask questions.  It contains quality of care information on every Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing home in the country, including more than 17,000 nationwide.

The Continuing Care neighborhood at Charlestown excelled in Health Inspections, Quality Measures and Staffing for an Overall rating of 5 stars.

“Charlestown’s excellent staff consistently outperformed national averages in their quality measures, which is one of the true measures of a great facility,” said Matt Rosewag, Director of Continuing Care.

The Nursing Home Compare Web site (http://www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare/search.html) features the quality rating system that gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars.  Nursing homes with 5 stars are considered to have much above average quality and nursing homes with 1 star are considered to have quality much below average.
