Charlestown Staff Volunteers Plant Seeds of Service

A group of Charlestown retirement community employee volunteers (pictured) planted vegetable seeds during the past month (green beans, lettuce, okra, pinto beans, beets, peppers, radishes, spinach, squash and peas) in starter seed kits and delivered them this week to Moveable Feast, an organization in downtown Baltimore City that provides hot, fresh meals for people who have been diagnosed with terminal illness.

Moveable Feast has a community garden not far from its offices. It uses the harvest from this garden in the preparation of its meals.

Staff volunteers drove the seedlings down to Moveable Feast where they met with the staff who was very excited to get such a wide variety of seedlings to grow in their community garden.

“Through this new partnership with Moveable Feast, Charlestown volunteers are continuing to plant their seeds of service throughout the greater Baltimore community,” said Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Chrzanowski.
