UMBC Launches Zombie-Themed Career Week

The week includes workshops and a career fair.

Finding a job takes brains. But unlike the lumbering zombies of horror movie lore,  officials are hoping career week is a bit more enlightening.

The university's zombie-themed career week starts Monday and runs through Thursday.

The week aims to help students from freshmen to seniors develop career options.

“One of our top goals is to reach students earlier so that they have more time to explore different career paths and prepare for life after graduation,” Caroline Baker, assistant vice president of careers and corporate partnerships, said in a press release. “We want to make career planning less intimidating and more fun.”

The week includes workshops, presentations and special events on topics including public speaking and financial planning. Last week, the university had a special event called "Clothes the Deal," where students could pick out free business attire to help with interviewing and networking, according to the release. More events are in UMBC's career week calendar.
