Frozen Yogurt Store Open on Frederick Road

Oke Yogii is open 700 block of Frederick Road.

A second frozen yogurt store has opened in Catonsville -- Oke Yogii on the 700 block of Frederick Road.

Owner Jay Zhang told Patch that he moved into the space in March and started making renovations.

The store has self-serve frozen yogurt, bubble tea and smoothies. Zhang said he is adding televisions and may occasionally have a DJ play at the store. The store currently has wi-fi.

The store does not have a website or Facebook page as of yet, Zhang said.

The store is currently open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., but Zhang said he will likely keep the store open until 10 p.m. in the summer months.

Earlier this year, yogurt opened on Baltimore National Pike.

We went there the other night and I doubt we'll be back. The one teenage employee was loudly talking to her friends while a woman was working behind the counter. The food service area was messy, the price was no better than the other frozen yogurt places that have sprung up, and the acoustics are terrible because the sound seems to bounce off the wall. The aforementioned teen employee and her friends were so loud that we could barely hear each other. The three teens in my party and I decided that it's a great location, but not worth visiting again.

Thanks for commenting Mari, I wonder if anyone else had similar experiences. I went in there for the first time yesterday and spoke to the owner on the phone.
When I was there an adult was working the counter and the inside was clean (I posted a few photos on the story). Shena, the owner did say they were going to do coupons, but he didn't say when. I'll pass this information onto the owner Jay. He told me yesterday he was very eager to hear feedback from the community!

Hi. Do you happen to have the phone number to oke yogii? (or know where I can find it) Thanks! :)

Hi Brittney, I can't seem to find it online, as they just opened last week. I will pass this article back to the owners though. Thanks!

Thank you for the phone number, Mark. I contacted your store today in hopes to speak to you about employment, but an employee said you were not in and did not give me a better time to contact you. If there is a better way to reach you (email, cell, etc.) please let me know! Thanks!

Brittney, it's not my store. I just did a quick search and posted what I found.

I added the listing and wrote the first review on Yelp! yesterday evening:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/oke-yogii-frozen-yogurt-catonsville Everything was clean when I was there, and the younger employees were taking care of the customers, so I can't say that I had the same experience as Mari. Some more tables and chairs and some acoustic tiles to help deaden the echo would be great. I like the counter seating in the front window for both the space available and for people-watching. Oh, and they need mochi balls in their topping selection, and maybe attach the scoops to the bins. I do like that their serving containers don't start at gigantic and work their way up. I can see stopping in for some quick self-serve when I'm out and about on Frederick Rd.

Thanks for weighing in Rob!

Rob, I'm really happy that your experience was so much better than ours. I want to like it, I really do, because the location is so convenient, but alas, I'm not sure I'm willing to spend more money there. Maybe in a couple weeks when they have hopefully worked out the kinks.

Sorry to say our experience was poor: fewer flavors of yogurt than most neighboring stores, half the amount of toppings available at, say, Tutti Frutti, yogurt was too soft, the syrup selection was a lonely bottle of Hershey's. In our case the two employees were friendly, but without a better selection can't see a reason to return.

There is currently a groupon offered so I might try it since it has been a year since the last review. Hopefully things have improved. Will try this weekend and write a comment.
