AT&T Boosts Coverage in Catonsville

The wireless carrier upgraded 4G service along River Road.

Mobile carrier AT&T announced Friday it has upgraded mobile Internet service along the River Road corridor in Catonsvilel.

The work on its 4G LTE service is part of what the carrier said in a news release was "continuing network investment."

“As part of the greater Baltimore community, we’re always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is another way we’re accomplishing that," J. Michael Schweder, president of AT&T Mid-Atlantic, said in the release.

The 4G service is up to 10 times faster than 3G service and supports newer devices, according to the release. The carrier first introduced its 4G service in October 2011 and spent almost $425 million on network upgrades in the Baltimore area from 2010 to 2012, according to the release.
